For Event 3:  Blackout

Till that moment, Clyde had thought that re-uniting with his lost team mates would be a dream come true. Many times he had thought what he would've been ready to give up to bring his friends back, or just to meet them one more time. No price had seemed too high for such a magical chance. Not back then.

Now he had his chance, and he felt terrified. Looking at the familiar faces he had missed for so many years didn't fill him with the warmth of joy, but drenched him in ice-cold dread. He wanted to believe it was because of the gruesome marks the IED had torn into the bodies of his friends, but at the same time he knew it wasn't the whole truth. Maybe not even half of it.

After all, it wasn't the blood and injuries that his eyes were fixated on. It was the eyes of the persons he could've once almost called his family. Instead of showing even a sliver of friendliness, all of the eyes staring at him were filled with such intense hatred and sheer loathing that it felt like physical knives tearing into his body.

There were so many things he had wanted to say. So many things he still wanted to say - but his voice was dead, and words were blocks inside his throat. He could barely breathe, the only air going into his lungs consisting of short and shallow gasps.

"You left us to die," one of the figures approaching him growled, each word dripping bitter venom.

"We were your responsibility and you abandoned us," another of them continued, bloodied lips curled into a despising snarl. "Deserter!"

If the glares aimed at Clyde were knives in his flesh, then the words spat at him grabbed those knives and brutally twisted them. He wanted to speak up and deny the accusations, but he couldn't; he didn't have that right and he knew it. All of those words were true, after all. He had let his team down and then turned his back on them when they had needed him the most. It was because of him that they were dead. He deserved this blame. Accepted it.

So why did he feel so terrified?

Why couldn't he even accept his responsibility without being a goddamn failure?

if you thought one pic would be enough to cover this issue you were wrooooong

after all, Clyde feels responsible for his team members' deaths in more ways than just one
he's deep in debt that's not easy to pay back - what if he's never able to do it?
